Does anyone have a knocking noise from the rear of your freelander and struggling to know what it is? its actually the rear axel mounts the nuts are located in the chassis have dislodged and allowed to move. Ive done 2 this week alone. Theres a simple sollution you just have to clean arround the area and simply put a weld on each contactable place, its mot passable however landrover will tell you it isnt and will charge you between £1000-£2000 to repair the fault (my mate is a landrover mechanic) as they say they have to open the chassis and repair it that way.

Section 2.4
Deliberate modification which
significantly reduces the original strength, excessive corrosion, severe distortion, a fracture or an Inadequate repair of a load bearing member or its supporting structure or supporting panelling within 30cm of any sub-frame, spring or a suspension component mounting, that is, within a 'prescribed area', see Appendix C.
RFR. They are quite correct to fail it.

It would be difficult to say what the noise could be without being there. I do hear noises but it could be a loose nut mostly in my case. Where excatly does the noise come from?

If you reverse and drive forward it will make a cracking noise like a loose bolt but this is what it will be!
