Hi all,

I've been tearing my hair out trying to plan a little excursion to Brittany, wonder if anyone might be able to share some experiences. The mrs and I will be heading over to France for the bank hol and want to do a little tour of Brittany, passing by St Malo and Dinan and then heading south.

Would be interested to hear of any decent campsites that you may know of (by "decent" I mean not amusement parks with campsite attached!). We like camping but some of the european campsites can be a bit much...

Cheers.

George

Hi George, We went that way last year , on the way south. A nice area, but our weather wasn't great.....On our return journey we stayed at a Horrendous site, which I cannot remember the name of . But I'll find out and it is one to avoid. It was in the middle of town, next to the main road, and was VERY noisy all night , as there were houses across the road playing loud music, there was a factory next door which had a compressor come on every 10 mins or so, and there were lorries trundling past on their way to the fishing harbour. We didn't sleep much................... I'll ask SWMBO if she can remember the name, later on...............One for you to avoid!!

the majority of the sites are great though Esp the muncipal ones , which tend to be quiet and well run, and cheaper!

We stayed at Camping Les Helles, it was really nice, no club or bar. It is close to the beach and a small village with restaurants etc. It is near Benodet (opposite side of the river) and there is a ferry across to Benodet. We went at the last 2 weeks in August and it was really quiet. It does sell pizzas which are very nice!
