Hoping that some kind sole/s will bounce ideas on resolving a power loss issue using Nanocom.
The symptoms are-
* On starting from cold does not like reving much over tick over. Just goes flat. And signs of smoke.
* After about a minute will rev freely.
* After that- has just lost the exciting Td5 sparkle. Like the turbo is US.

Question is this. Using Nanocom- surely I should be able to get a clue.

For example- if the turbo was NOT effective, the MAP or MAF sensors should show a bad reading. This would apply to de laminated pipes etc etc.

Any thoughts on this would be welcome. Tony

Hi Tony,
Havent used nanocom for engine diagnostics but have read the outputs on fuelling-cylinder balance etc. Can only suggest you run diagnostics to see if there are any faults!

Thanks Paul, should have mentioned that no fault codes are showing.

I read somewhere that a faulty MAP or MAF *might* not show a fault. Although when I accidentally left my MAP unplugged it did show up.

I stand to be corrected- but I think you are right. Disconnect the MAF or the MAF and the system reverts to default- and no faults are shown.

But I can see these values varying [ dependant on engine speed and load]
so they must be OK ??

I would check the wastgate linkage and the injector harnes for oil at the ECU plug. Dont need nanocom for either of thise.

I think disconnecting the MAF sensor does cause the engine to ignore it but I *think* but I am not sure as I dont have a nanocom (yet) that this does show an error.
