hi , sorry if this has been covered before - have done a search , but to no avail .
was wondering if i can get a list of l/r spares shops for northern europe , including scandanavia ?
do such things exist ?
the local agents will post things to me if need be ,
thanks for any info / directions to the "where to get l/r thripple pin locking washer in north sweden/norway" website .

Paddocks are rather good at posting abroad. I have known 2 people who used their service and both have been happy.

ta .
'spose it's a bit much to expect a string of parts suppliers along my proposed route , but do all l/r owners abroad have to use mail order ?

check your local main dealer they may have a list of main dealers and service agents worldwide

Are you taking the Series or the Disco?

I can't talk from experience about Europe and Scandanavia, but in Africa there is no real shortage of LR dealerships in the major centres, ie: capitals and other major cities. I'm sure it must be similar in Europe and Scandanavia.

Disco parts are easily available in major centres. Series parts are .... well... variable. Some are readily available, some are rare as hen's teeth.

I've used LR Series, Dingocroft, and Autopost to get hard-to-find parts into South Africa before. It takes about 10 days to get here from the UK.

I would be very worried about sending spares to many places in Africa though, and I'm sure that the same issues exist in some Eastern European countries. I'll give an example: I have a client in Luanda, Angola who finds it cheaper to fly to South Africa to pick up a few two-way radio batteries from me, than it would be to DHL the batteries to Luanda. He's routinely had items stolen, exorbitant customs duties are levied, and his goods often sit for weeks before they are released.

Hi, I have been given the following numbers for Land Rover service centres and I'm sure you local dealer could help with others:

France: 0033161016800 Austria: 004366221210

Belgium: 003227097979 Slovenia: 0038615135306

Germany: 004961969521100 Croatia: 0038516301901

Taking a parts book for your vehicle would be wise as pictures are a good way of overcoming any language barriers. Some Land Rover service centres are tacked on to other businesses and they may not be as familiar with items as you would like.

That's an excellent suggestion

If you are coming north to Scandanavia, and whilst here need local help, go to:

www.lrforum.com

There you'll find an international forum where all posting is done in English.
The Norwegian LR enthusiasts are spread all over the country and if you shout 'Help' on the forum you're guaranteed help and advice.
Some of the forum members live in the other Scandinavian countries.

Hope this helps.

p.s. I wouldn't go to the official LR dealers for spares, there are enough independents around who are a lot cheaper even though the parts are genuine LR, and this is where the forum can help you to save bucket loads of dosh.

We tend to use Blanchards. We've also used the LR dealership where we used to live because we knew the parts manager well.

hi.
just a brief update , and renewed thanks for the input .
as it happens ,the 15 yr old disco did me proud ,4,997 miles (darn it !), in 3 wks,and the only issue was that the ash tray was a tad small.
now have plenty advice re travelling up the east of sweden -nordkapp- and back down the 'e6' in norway .

Have heard the same about Serbia - hideous customs duties. Apparently I need a friend in Hungary I can drive over and collect them from... anyone know anyone??

Thanks Jim - I'm sure most companies are nowadays, I'm waiting for a dog guard from UK as it was cheaper than buying it here! The real issue is border security and enormous excise duty, for which you need a friend in a neighbouring country

Scandinavia is a great area to explore in a LR. Just google the Danish,Norwegian and Swedish Land Rover clubs. They are very helpful and many of their members are fluent in English.

When I travel abroad I get an extensive spares kit on loan from my local indie LR dealer (FOC!!!!!) Just pay for what I use. They will ship any parts that I need.

Enjoy your trip
