I've got a 1995 300tdi discovery that keeps randomly cutting out. It happens at any revs & any temperature.
Sometimes it might go for a week or 2 with no problems & other times it happens 3 or 4 times in a day.
When it restarts it drives fine again.
There's no noticeable loss of power at anytime & i've replace the air & fuel filters.
If anyones had a similar problem or knows what it could be please let me know.
Cheers, Chris

Has your engine got a fuel cutoff solenoid on the injection pump?

I think it is a fairly easy removal, just pull it out and get it checked, or get a replacement, but just double-check connections for corrosion etc before you do.
The other thing to look at is the earthing return point for that solenoid, it is likely to be off the engine somewhere, run a spanner over the obvious ones along the inside of the wings on either side of the engine bay etc.
Sounds electrical, unless of course you have a fuel pump or a fuel filter issue, in which case you may have to dig deeper.
