Hi All,Feel a bit guilty here because since joining the forum ive received loads of top-notch advise but im yet to dish any out myself! Anyways, got a Disco Td5 (2002) and when i turn the key and start the engine i hear 3 beeps from the dash board. All the lights around the speedo illuminate and then go out as they should and there are no further beeps or warning lights while driving along.Has anyone else had a similar issue? Thanks in advance,Craig

I now with freelanders they beep to signify that the battery in the key fob needs changing, perhaps its the same?

Do you have a little doofer that count's down to when the next service is due?

I had this in my old J**p and you needed to reset it to shut it up. Just a thought.

Have a look at the Audible Alarms section of the user handbook, page reproduced below.

Off-road height adjustment request by the look of it.

Thanks for the fast response guys.Im not sure how the service reminders are displayed or indicated so im not too sure if thats the issue causing the 3 beeps. The batteries in both my keys have been recently changed but i suppose its not uncommon for them to be dud so ill check those. The hand book doesnt seem to be telling me a fat lot either. If there's any more ideas guys i would greatly appreciate them! Thanks,Craig

Ah, thanks for that Peter, seems the 3 beeps could be the ABS system then.It only beeps 3 times upon start up and never during driving tho. The investigation continues...Craig

I'm with Peter on this one , sounds like Off Road suspension request warning . Do you have the Key fob with the suspension mode button on it ?

Oh no , Ive just read his insert and see that ABS does the same warning .. thats well thought out then  . Could be that but the ABS has a great big warning light on the console
seems strange to trigger it and not also trigger than (and its two friends for good measure) .

I havent a clue about what specific part of ABS would fail to trigger this , but know that low battery voltage triggers a lot of warning false positives on start up , worth a quick check on that maybe .

Hi Graham,There isnt any ABS warning light illuminated, just the 3 beeps on start up, the ABS light illuminated for a couple of seconds after start up and then goes out (which illimiates and dodgy dealer cover up with insulation tape!)Would you know if it would beep 3 times during a journey too if there was a suspected ABS fault? Thanks,Craig

An ABS fault would also light the dash warning, so I'd go for the ride height request, especially if your key fob has the remote button for it.

Thanks for that Peter.I dont have the height button on my fob but i have it on the dash as normal.Any ideas as to what the issue could be with that or is it a job for the Nanocom?Again, thanks for all replies guys.Craig

I understand that the 3 beeps is just a diagnostic when the ignition is turned on. Have a look in your handbook

Have a look at this thread http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=151788 - it was discussed in great depth and the conclusion is/was that if it happens once all the lights have gone out then it's "a good thing".
I still can't find it in my manual though!

Every third time is the abs self check. I have known the water in fuel filter sensor connection to cause the same three chimes without the warning linght showing. Dis connect the plug, see if that does the trick.

Hi All.

I concur with Grant. In the owners manual (South African edition???) of my Disco II it states that if you turn the key to position 2 and allow the self test to complete before turning the engine over then you will hear the 3 chimes to indicate that all is well. If you start the vehicle before all the warning lights on the dash extinguish, then you dont hear the chimes. As I recall it is the seatbelt warning that extinguishes last on my vehicle.

Hi All, thanks for all the posts, ive followed the link to a previous thread which Shunty found. Seems that if i leave all the lights to go out and then start the engine i get the 3 beeps but if i jump straight in and start up without waiting for the lights to go out i dont hear a thing. I can now rest safe in the knowledge that it is all normal! :)

Thanks one and all... but no thanks to the Discovery handbook which has told me sod all!!!
