Does anyone know of an aftermarket air con kit that would fit my 99MY TD5 Disco II? I don't want climate control, just the bog standard air Con.
Thanks in advance
Graeme.

You might want to check ebay, I've seen a couple of heater units / evaporator units for around 50 quid RHD, no good to me as I want LHD.
Compressors are easy to get hold of, (part number BTR 5750) be wary of ones that have open connections as they might be full of moisture, something you don't want in an A/C system. Driers are about 30 squids
Then you will need all the pipes, look for someone breaking a Disco, it will be difficult be well worth it in the long run

No problems, remember not to over charge it with refrigerant.
There's two charges with or without rear A/C i know the latter is 1450 gramms of R134a. I will find out what the front only A/C should be.

You might want to check ebay, just browsed a couple of pages that have the right model of compressor BTR 5750 for your Disco.

First time poster!!
Not that I am a doubting Thomas :scratchCh...but is that the correct part number for a Series 2? I seem to get conflicting part numbers when looking around. The reason I'm looking you might ask, well, the end of my compressor doesn't spin, the bit in front of the belt, and looking at the various posts about repairing, the easier option seems to be to replace the whole compressor.
Just had the gas, pressure and leaks checks at Kwik-Fit. All okay, and they confirmed it was charged with .7kg of R134a and 13ml of oil.
Tonight I'll be checking electric connections, not sure if that will make a difference, but worth a shot...

Well, after the first check I found a 10amp fuse has blown, which controls the Air con, no.6 in the engine bay fuse box. Replaced fuse and the unit is spinning and the cockpit got very cold!!:icecube:
Easiest repair ever!!!
My only hope is the fuse doesn't blow again or I'll have to get the mutlimeter out!!!

Thats way to much refrigerant, Disco 2's with rear aircon only take around 900g and only 700g with only front aircon.

If its a Disco 1, it should be 0.9kg front only, if you've the rear A/C as well it bumps it up to 1.15kg of R 134a.

Mine is a Disco II, so 700g is correct for mine.
Also it was free at Kwik-fit as it they couldn't get it 10% colder. Obviously due to the fuse being blown. So now it's ice cold.
I did give the guy a drink in Kwik-fit to say thanks, plus it eases my guilt now as well for getting it free!
