Hiya Spudd, you do realise that you are putting enormous strain on the steering components by doing this at standstill, don't you??

Hi, cant be any different to getting out of a tight parking space.i can see it being a strain with engine off.also its not a habit i just needed to access wheel arch liner so started engine turned wheel when i switched off it shot back.

I wasn't meaning to have a pop at you mate, it's just that LR's are under-specc'd when it comes to steering bits and don't take kindly to over-use.

If you look at the steering setup on an equivalent Merc or BM the components are MUCH chunkier. It's been like this since the days of BMC/BLMH/British Leyland

Is it slower or heavier turning right?

One side of the box has a small amount of volume to fill as it's the ram, the other side is the body of the steering box. If it's got air in it, that might be making it jolt back as the air expands. I can't remember which side that is pff hand, but I think it's turning right.

Have you lost fluid recently and not bled the box by the top bleed screw?

Chris
