Hi
I have a 1999 V8 Discovery 2
It has a CD/Radio that has a navigation system built in.
Is there any point trying to make this work?
If I press "Navigate" it asks me to insert the navigation CD, which I don't have.
Thanks
Chris

I'd try to get hold of a copy CD before giving up on it, there must be a few folks around with these installed (we haven't got it ourselves)
I suppose a dealer would want an arm and a leg for it, but might be worth finding out the worst.
There is apparently more than one type of system, suggest you do a Google search and see if you can ID the unit first, then go hunting.
Place a wanted AD on the forum as well.

What Peter said .. plus dont forget you will need the Product ID license key to activate it once you insert the CD if the unit installation has been wiped , damaged or perhaps never installed ..

OK thanks
Oddly I've found a CD changer under the seat, but the radio has a CD slot and doesn't appear to have CD changer options..
Also the steering wheel controls don't work..
I found online a Navtech CD for Land Rover systems, - seems to be right for mine, but as I'm not sure and it's £145, I won't be going down that road..
I'm tempted to put in a new Radio I have to replace the lot. It has a "line in" connection. The kids like using their IPOD into it.

Does it look like this ??

if so it is about £150 for a new Nav CD from Land Rover. No product key etc needed even if you get a copy. I run copies in my nav unit so to keep the original discs in good condition.
its a bit strange to find it in a "99" model, as the earlier D2's offered a diff nav system, if its the same as the piccy then thatw as not around until late 2002, so Im pretty sure that has been retro-fitted, Do you have a GPS antenna in the centre of the rear roof ?
The fact the steering controls dont work also tells me its a retro-fit that wasn't "completed" or done wrong.
if you move your seat forward and have a look on the back off the Cd changer, it should be Part no XQE100120

Hi yes thats the one, except I don't have the trim piece underneath so I can see a couple of screws.
The CD changer is an Alpine XQE000110PMAD
It has a cd cartridge in it, but this wont eject, so I assume theres no power to it??

Wont matter if theres power to it, it wont work with the Becker unit, you have to use the CD changer with the part number above.
Somone has fitted that nav unit in there, and either given up or sold the vehicle on without completeing the install

Thanks everyone.
I have now tried my Kenwood CD Radio I bought recently from Halfords.
The sound from the Harmon Kardon speaker system is just superb.
As this unit plays MP3 CD's and has a "Line in" that I can use from an IPOD or a portable DAB. I think this will be staying in.
I can buy a new Tom Tom for less than the price of a Land Rover NAV CD.
Does anyone know if the trim piece is available to go under the std size radio?
Cheers
