would the steering be all over the place one side at the front i have 235/70/16 on the other side 205/80/16 as got a flat out laneing and i did not have a spare .. thanks

The diameters of the two tyres are pretty much the same but their width is different. I suspect it depends more on the condition and tread pattern of the tyres, to say whether this is affecting your steering greatly.

It won't help, although did you get a flat because the rim took a knock? Possibly knocking out the tracking?
Anyhow if it got you home then its served its purpose. You shouldn't really use it on the road until the other tyre is repaired as Mr police man will not be happy about the different sized tyres on the same axle.
