My 97 Discovery 4.0L cuts power going up steep hills,RPM won't go past 1200rpm. I can turn around and back up the same hill , No problems. I changed the fuel filter and fuel psi at the rail is 35psi. Anyone had these problems?

I had an old range rover that did that years ago. Went into 3 different garages and £400 later I eventually found out that the wire to the coil was broken and everytime I went up a steep hill the wires came apart and it cut out.

Simple fix. Hope that helps

Thats really weird on fuel injection, has the tank pick up been out and fitted in the wrong position,

no work has been done on the tank or fuel pump. I may pull the pump to see if there's an issue with pick up.

Thanks

Have you cleaned out the fuel sedimenter (if the V8s have these), sometimes these go 4 ages without being done. It really helped my 300TDI!

Another thought might be the fuel pressure regulator, maybe its under fueling and there could well be a filter between the tank and lift pump, really is worth a look before pulling her to bits.
