Hi there folks,I have just purchased a remote control fob for the air suspension (got it off flea bay so no codes or paperwork with it).Contacted My local independant who said he could re-programme it to my car.Took her down & he plugged her in and then to My horror He said bad news mate, she has previously been programmed & the 16 digit code was still in there & that He couldnt shift it unless I Buy A new fob with a bar code £100+.
So before I upset the Mrs & splash out on new fob, does anybody out there know if a LR dealer could just wipe the old codes off,or something.
PS.the inde said if she hadnt previously been coded He could have done it no problem.

Programming and re-programming are very different.
The data is in as EPROM and the only way to erase it to expose the chip to UV light so not a lot of LR programmers are geared up for that as it removes the chips I.D (thats whats missing from your ebay fob).
I my line of work we just go out and buy replacement chips a strip of ten at a time and fit the replacement and download the updated I.D's and data to it, they are as cheap as chips. We may just replace the PCB which is easer still, less labour. :)

So as u now know you require a fob with the barcode.

you dont need the 16 digit code on the Keyfobs, as you can simply use the 6 digit code printed on the circuit board inside..........I have not seen a suspension fob in person, so never pulled one apart, but if you do and there is a 6 figure code printed on the board, you "should" be able to use that.

I still dont see why the code could not be removed from the BCU......

Im not sure why the code cannot be removed only that the so called expert told me so,but I will investigate the 6 digit code inside the fob & let you know.
