Have had a set of Colway All Terrains on my Discovery 300 TDI for the last 2 years / 18000 miles. When I bought them new they were just over £40 a corner delivered so cheap as chips. I can't fault them as ATs neither on nor off road and the tread has hardly worn from new. However, I experienced a tyre blow out today (nearside front) whilst travelling along the A12 and it looks as if it was the tyre wall that went.

The dilemma - was I just unlucky with the tyre that blew today and get another All Terrain to replace the spare that's now on the motor or should I be thinking that, despite the huge amount of tread on the other Colways, they may have had their day and that I may not be so lucky accident wise if another blow out occurs and bite the bullet by replacing the whole set?

If I do replace the whole set, I was looking at Hankook RT03s see here http://http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m26b0s229p21581] (http://http//www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m26b0s229p21581%5D)
Anyone running these?

It may have just been bad luck with the tyre wall, it could be anything really from a kerbing to a pot hole, a slight fault during manufacture and bob's yer uncle so to speak!:(

I will maintain that tyres are the most crucial part of the vehicle, get it wrong and the consequences can be fatal. I would suggest that you inspect each tyre carefully, look for cracking, stress marks and slight bulges. If in any doubt, bite the bullet and swap em out.

I have never used Colway or Hankook, the later are, I believe a good tyre, however, if you are looking to replace the lot, then I would heartily recommend the General Grabber AT2, as would quite a few other people on here. Good on and off road, slightly cheaper than the Hankook if you shop around. I got mine for £80 a corner, fitted from a local independant tyre fitter and I really can not fault them....:D

Andy

Thanks for the reply. I run General Grabber AT2s on my Discovery 3 18'' rims and agree that they're a great all round tyre. I also have a set of 17'' rims with oversize Maxxis Bighorns that I put on when doing offroad events in it.

Regarding the D1, I've bitten the bullet and bought a set of RT03 Hankooks at £66 a corner delivered.

Hope they will! Advised by Camskill that there are none in the UK at present at the wholesalers and there is an 8 week wait for new stock!

Have you tried your local independant tyre fitter? You may be suprised:) but then again.....

Seems an awful long time to wait for tyres
