Can anyone tell me please if they have successfully fitted part STC50469 or STC50470 to a td4. I have today fitted them as I have no FBH to get in the way, but cannot get them to work, and yes I have checked the earth and all connections, and they were new. Thanks

Have you made sure the relay is fitted?
Also have you earthed them back to the body?

Earth is ok. what do you mean by the relay? all connections have been made according to the diagrams. Thanks by the way

Are there fuses installed? Was there a relay in the fitting kit?

In the fuse box by the driver's knee, there should be a relay fitted for the front fog's. Sorry don't know which one, but your handbook will tell you. Thought it came in the kit?

Yes, a yellow relay box and fuse fitted as part of kit. but no lights working, wish I never started now!
Hi
When I installed them I had a similar proble as I didnt push the two red and yellow wires into the white plastic connecters properly. these are the ones that connect the inner harness to the outer harness if that makes sense?
hope this helps

Hi Dean, thanks for helping. Have double checked every connection this morning, still nothing. Is there any way of checking if there is juice getting through? For now I have pulled the fuse. Where did you earth the harness in engine compartment? I was worried I may not have a good earth, although I did tryn earthing it direct to the battery -ve. Paul

Regarding those red/yellow wires, they both look the same so I assumed there was no preference as to which way they go into the connector?
Hi
I would try run a wire from the positive terminal to one of the red and yellow wires (one in the plastic connecters) and see if one of the lights come on.
also check that on harness 2 (the one that is on the inside of the car) there is a large grey connector that has 10 wires going into it that you have put the cap on that. I will get a picture.
lastly....sounds dumb have you checked that the globes arent blown and are sitting in thier holders correctly?
be back with the photo.

The 10 wire harness is the one that is just zip tied somewhere out of the way? It doesnt connect to anything. I had no "hat" to put on it so I am unsure what you mean? Bulbs are fine
here are the pics
first has the cap off and the second is with cap on

Oh I see what you mean, mine had the cap already on so i didnt realise it came off, or indeed was in two pieces. I will check its pushed on sufficiently though

Yes pushed on firmly
have you tried taking a positive lead to the red and yellow wire?

Thats next if i can find a bit of wire long enough. It wont blow the bulb will it?

Lights work fine direct from +ve to those leads. What can I check next?

Ok Great...so we have found that you have a good earthpoint and that the front Harness is working. So the fault lies in the internal harness.
I would now test the yellow and red wires on the internal harness to see if they have power coming to them.
I have made a crude current tester by using an indicater bulb and soldering wires on the positive and negative (ie one and the bottom and one on the side). Connect one point to a known earth and use the other to test the red and yellow wires. (if you make this crude tester heck it on your cars battery first).
Did you buy the unit new?
Hope we can solve this

Hi Dean, thanks for your help with this. I have a circuit tester that looks like a crocodile clip with a length of wire attached terminating in a screwdriver with a point and bulb within, I think you mean to put this across the two red/yellow wires when ingnition and fog switch are on. We are away for a week from today and will have no IT access, so will do this test whilst away and get back ato you after if thats ok.
Incidentally, it was bought second hand unused off Ebay. Everything was still sealed in bags and cables all neatly wrapped (Genuine LR part Nos/labels etc) Paul

Incidentally, what can i do next if I find I have current as above?
If you have power from those 2 wires (red and Yellow) then the fault lies in that plastic connector. I would then connect the wires as they click into each other without the adapter and insulate with electrical tape.
hopefully its that!

You mean after I have checked the current in the upper harness? We are away in the caravan, so I can have a play around, but no internet access you see. Leaving in half an hour
yes....the upper harness (inner).....

And if there is no current from upper harness this indicates a fault in the relay or grey connector etc, Then I suppose theres not much i can do
