Help, flashing battery light

Hi all,
Can anyone help??
I have and 04 Freelander, when I start the engine the battery light comes on as normal, when I start the engine it goes out. But when I rev the car up the battery light flashes red on and of, the when the revs drop it goes out again. I have Just bought a new engine its costing me a packet this car:(

Faulty alternator?
Wiring not reconnected correctly?

Hi there,
I took all the wires out, and it looked like when the garage put the new engine in they squeezed the wires and the engine was pressing against them. Hopefully its sorted now, fingers crossed.
