Hello All..
I replaced my MAF on my 2003 TD4 this morning. When I disconnected the clip with the braided pipe and small bore tube on the side of it . I noticed that the tube had a flter attached that has broken off from its attached point. This seems to have been broken for some time given the colour of it.
I could not locate the point that it should be attached to..

Can anyone tell me what this tube/filter are for and are they important.

Regards.

Martin

A simple filter to ensure that only clean air enters the vacuum system. Change it if it's clogged (any car accessory shop £3 approx)

Thanks...Dann

Much appreciated, at least nothing to panic about. Will change it tomorrow to keep up with the MAF , Crankcase Breather filter , Camshaft sensor, and everything thing else that I have changed over the past week...

Next week it is a knocking track rod..so better do both.

The joys of having a TD4..

Regards.

Yes, but my view is that you will enjoy the vehicles potential all the more once you have it sorted to your satisfaction.

Thanks to Dann and Robbie

...Changed the filter today .

This was my first posting on the forum, nice to get straight honest replies from fellow Freelander owners. I have posted problems on other site forums only to get an answer you have to go through the messages from Big Brother L.R owners mocking us little guys..

At least we know whats under our bonnets.....

Regards.
And Thanks

You're welcome Martin, hope you stick around.

We sometimes get the owners of "real LRs" having a go on here, but like someone said the other day.....

At least we can go greelaning, then travel at over 60mph for 100 mile for the drive home and still have our hearing when we get there.

Our FL are exactly what we want and we've never replaced a UJ!

Hi Martin,
Good luck with your TD4, My partner and I make a good living with the small fleet of TD4s which we operate. I have used all Land Rover variants over the last 25 years and had lots of fun but in terms of reliability and cost effectiveness the TD4 is way ahead. The secret is preventative maintainance.D..
