Right I have some boxes to install.. They require a Lan connection and a 20v power supply. They will only draw 1 amp or so. Can I utilise Poe to get the 20v supply?
I appriciate the typical PoE voltage is 47volts
Any ideas welcome :)
I can just hack the cable up but I don't want a PSU in the comms room!

Yes you can, and it's really easy.
You should be able to find things like this (http://www.dbg.co.za/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=98&products_id=223) in the UK.
I have 12V, 18V, 24V and 48V all happily feeding various pieces of equipment over wires 4&5 (the blue pair) and 7&8 (the brown pair).
A typical CPE installation for us will be a Uniquiti Nanostation 2 or 5 with the PSU and the PoE injector in the clients office or study with an STP cable going outside to the radio.

I managed to find this http://www.watt-power.co.uk/catalogue/pos1000-splitter-adapter-level-p-599.html?zalozka=specs¤tPic=1 which utilises a PoE switch (which we have) so no funny connectors in the cabinet.
Trouble I have is getting hold of one because of 'Verified by Visa' cack that requires me to put the DOB of the card holder in.. Which is difficult cos its a company card. When was my company bornn ?

Sorry to butt in here chaps, but what the heck are you on about .
If I want to connect summat to summat else I use 16 amp thinwall cable (lots of runs if it is a big load), tie wraps, gaffer tape or even a Mig welder, but I haven't got a clue what you are on about :o :D.
