Has anyone ever had experience of fitting a ‘Push Towbar’ to a Freelander 1? Just wondered if by fitting one it hinders removal of the under tray at oil change / service time. Where do they bolt to?
I can get one for approx £165 but want to do a bit of homework first. It would make manoeuvring my Caravan onto the drive at home a lot easier.
Thanks,
Chris T

Never seen one fitted to or made for FL1 but if its what I think your on about the only way I can imagine it fitting is to remove inner steel bumper and use the mountings directly on to monococque chassis rails (4 bolts each side)

Where are you getting this from???

I would think it simply bolts in place of the front recovery eye.
The rear eye is fixed to the chassis rail with six bolts, so the front may be similar.

Doubt it very much. That would introduce a twisting force to the chassis leg, which would be very risky. I have seen one, not for a FL, that reduced front ground clearance.

LR would not have fitted the recovery/towing eye to the chassis if it was not strong enough.

Try here..they seem to be cheaper than rears.

Interestingly they can fit the towball in the centre of the vehicle
