Folks,
I’ve read a lot about these uprated headlight bulbs (H4 in my case) but has anyone used them and found a major difference on the road? Worth the money or just another gimmick and are they OK with the plastic Headlights on Freelander 1s?

I use the Osram ones, after having used some cheap ones, and yes there is a difference. More light and whiter, but no more glare than standard.
Phillips ones also have a good reputation, but best of all are the Piaa ones, but they are mega bucks.

They do give a lot more light, that I can confirm. The drawback is that they have a lot shorter life due to the type of gas and the extra thin filament'
I have been using Osram Night Breakers for a couple of years now and guesstimate that they last tops 50% as long as regular bulbs. And over here, where the law is dipped headlights 24/7 then they don't really last long.
I use regular bulbs from late April til end of September then switch to the osrams for the long, dark Norwegian winter:(

Thanks for the replies gents. Just wondered about any additional heat generated with having plastic lenses etc. From speaking to a contact at work today, I am told minimal additional heat is generated.
Thanks again.
