Hi has anyone had any experience of roof tents?

I'm off to morocco in march next year and plan to get one. Are the justified?

What i cant find a roof rack that allows the tent to open out over the back! they all seem to have a ridge around them!

Here's mine:
http://www.ventureoverland.com/~pub/D110_2.jpg (http://www.ventureoverland.com/%7Epub/D110_2.jpg)

It opens up over the back and has an enclosed 'downstairs'.

Are they worth it you ask - That depends on who you ask Im afraid. Some people love them, others would rather stay on the floor. Personally, I love them. Ive used many different makes and wouldnt want to go anywhere without one. The Beduin's are quite possibly the best ones Ive used to date and are certainly a lot dryer than other more recognised makes.

They are Very comfortable, keep the creepy crawlies out, DRY (good ones anyway), most are quick to errect and put away and dont take space up in the vehicle.

Downsides:
1. Additional weight high up
2. Older people tend not to like them too much because they dont like climbing up and down the ladder juring the night... say no more.
3. Expense compared to a conventional ground tent.

Hope that helps. If you need more questions answering, feel free to ask.
