View Full Version : France - Certificate de Conformite

Hi

I have recently moved a UK registered Discovery 3 to France. I read that new cars often don't need a certificate of conformity in order to be registered in France (as all the relevant info is now on the V5) so I went to the Prefecture with all the other bits and pieces. They agreed that this was fine but when they came to enter the car in the system they couldn't work out what format to put the type in (ie. Discovery or Discovery 3 or Discovery TDV6 etc.).

Land Rover France now want 180 Euros to issue a certificate! Not bad for 5 minutes work just so that I can work out the text format.

If anybody has any advice on what format the text should be (for Type, variant, model and Type approval number) I'd be very grateful. Ideally an example Certificate de Conformite or Carte Grise for a Discovery 3 would be ideal. Probably not a good idea to post the actual doc but an example with made up numbers instead would be great.

Many thanks in advance
Jon

Hi Jon,

On my certificat d'immatriculation for a Discovery 2 TD5 section "D3" for type is marked down simply as DISCOVERY, hope this is of help.

As for wanting 180 euro's for certificate de conformite Ifor Williams charge 300 euro's and Harley Davidson 150 euro's bit of a rip off i'd say !

If you haven't already sorted it out, this is the document sent out by Land Rover France. It explains what is required and how it should be presented. Hope this helps.

Thanks all. I simply had to pay Land Rover France in the end. That wasn't quite as distressing as the 700 Euros to the prefecture however for the Carte Grise.

Cheers
