Hello

I am not impressed.
I recently discovered that my Td5 DISCOVERY 2002 has no warning if water cooling system is low. My girlfriends 1988 BMW has one.

And Land Rover told me it a good idea to replace all pipes as I am near 200 000km and I want to do another 300 000 at least.

So Do I replace all the pipes or do I fit a Madman monitoring system that will warn me if there slightest loss in cooling tank cause to either a leak or pipe burst and avoid overheating.

Well my Landy did hold it out till now? Is it common for the pipes to go at this mileage? When are you suppose to replace them?

Not sure what to do. Either way is not really fitting my pocket at the moment, but I am doing next month 2500 km trip on tar , so I am worried now.

Hope you all can help me on this choice I have to make.

Thx

I've no idea what a madman system is - but replacing all the hoses seems daft and a cop out by the dealer. Check the hoses carefully for cracks and replace if required.

Hi,

My Disco is 11 yrs old, just coming up to the 200,000K's mark and never heard of that cock & bull story, thou the local stealer will try anything on to try and get some more cash out of me.

With the ambients around the 50c the heat does rip rubber apart, so you have to take care, i carry a full set of rad hose's and heater hoses, brought them from paddocks for the price of one from the dealer.

Plus 2ft of 3/4 hose to cut and tuck where needed, and a selection of jubilee clips, & expansion tank cap.

If you are in the middle of know where you are thankfully of the spares, when all you can see is sand & Toyota's!
