I have has this problem for a while now and is starting to drive me mad. i get a kind of jump every time i take my foot off the clutch with a clunk of noise with it. i need to get this sorted, can anyone help me? i dont think its the a frame ball joint, doesnt seem to be any play. so the only other thing it could be is, theres play on the out put shaft somewhere.
if someone could point me in the rifgt direction in sorting this, i would be greatful.

I'd check your UJ's have you greased them up recently?
Pretty simply & cheap to change if they are U/S.

check the front drive flanges as they wear and are often over looked

hiya, check both diffs for play, also is it pulling to a side when you let off, my mates disco did, trailing arm bush was cream crackered!!! but, it might be a worn half saft or cv with twisted splines, failing that look at the back of your gearbox, a few 17mm bolts take them off, this will expose out put shaft take the screw out (if it has one) and see how much play on that shaft there is, if all is fine with bushes etc. is got to be in the box

hi, funny you saying about pulling to one side. it does that sometimes when i brake but at only at high speed. ive had one half shaft out when i was tightening up the rear bearings, all seemed ok but ill check the other side. i will also check the other the output shaft too if i get time this evening. thanks for your advice
