Today I picked up my Disco 1994 ES 3.9 Efi with LPG conversion. It was a 100 mile drive back home, which I did on petrol, not knowing where any LPG stations where. The truck drives brilliantly:):), accelerates as it should. sounds good and is fairly comfortable. I'm really looking forward to using it daily.
Now the first question....... The temperature gauge doesn't register at all, where do I start to look?
My intention is to gradually bring the car back to near "very good" condition, doing most of the work myself, so be ready for many more questions etc.

Get yourself a copy of the RAVE manual, either download from Green Oval (ISO CD Image) or buy from Fleabay for a fiver or so plus postage.
The temp gauge should be in the inlet manifold at the front with a clip-on multiplug. Due to variants in engine spec's, it may have a different connector but the location looks to be the same on all.
On the later Thor engine you need to take the alternator off to get a spanner on the sensor, but early ones might be OK without removal.
While you're there, make sure that you do have a thermostat fitted!

You have two temperture senders, one behind the distributor with a multi pin plug that's for the engine management and behind that is a smaller sender with a single wire thats the one for the temp gauge.
Just disconnect the sender wire (it's a bush fit) and earth it, then if the gauge needle deflects when the ignition is switched on you have a faulty sender.

Quick update.
The temp gauge is now working properly. Thanks for the advice but, in what I believe to be true Land Rover fashion, it has started working without me having to go near it! No doubt the advice will prove useful when it stops working again, which I have no doubt it will.
