Hi!
Since owning my Disco1 I really hated the front seat headrest (if one can call it that name - see the first picture). And it turns out you cant fit Disco2 seats (second picture) on Disco1 seat rails (they almost fit, but the almost part is off about 10mm) and Disco1 seat fittings are completely incompatible with Disco2 seat fittings. Anyway, If you want the normal headrest from Disco2 - it is possible to change only the back of the seat. Take the front seats out, take the seat back off.
The Disco2 seat back is a bit wider, so you need to make 4 spacers each 15mm wide and with 11mm hole in it. If you can use something like similar to the third picture, you can make something similar to the spacer in fourth picture. If not - find some 15mm thick steel and use an angle grinder and a drill. Then you need to grind the back of the Disco2 seat a bit (picture number 5 - before grinding, picture number 6 - after) because the seat belt washer will make it quite hard to bolt the new seat back to the old seat base. And you will need 4 M10 (std 10mm bolts) which are 15mm longer that the original for each seat. Dont worry if you find some which are longer than required - there is plenty of space under the seat.
After that - a bit of work and the job is done: last pic.
The next part in the "lets put some Disco2 parts in Disco1" I will try probably is the rear seat. How hard can it be...? ;)
