Hi there can anyone help me ?

I've got a couple of problems with my td5 disco i bought it as a non runner and have rebuilt the engine.
But i can't remember which way round the two fuel pipes should go on the block to the cylinder head.
There are two pipes one for the fuel cooler and the other has a connector on to remove it.
Which one should go at the top ?

The other problem is that the fuel pump is deafening loud !!! and i don't appear to get any fuel pressure at the pipes is the pump at fault ?
There is fuel in the tank by the way.

Is there any way to diagnose the problem ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Noisy fuel pumps are usually about to depart this world, how many miles has the vehicle covered?

Fuel piping is in the picture below.

Thanks for that Peter, i had a surprise weekend away so am just catching up on my e mails.

I definately have the pipes the wrong way round.

The disco has done 99k according to the mileometer.

It is defiantely very loud a friend of mine had a TD 5 and you couldn't hear the fuel pump.

hi, i have a 1999 defender td5, on which i recently replaced the head with a reconditioned one.
I had originally put the fuel pipes into the head the wrong way around, but having got them right now it starts and runs ok(although the glow plugs are not heating). However after about 2 or 3 minutes of running it stalls.
I have noticed that there is a hissing coming from somewhere around the head, but cannot find a leak despite using soapy water etc to try to find a leak. i have changed the 'o' rings on the fuel pipes, and the problem is still there. the hissing is only present while the fuel pump is running, but it seems to take a long time to prime up, staying on for about 25 seconds each time the ignition key is turned.
any ideas? it's driving me mad!!!
