Ok I know this is one of the other sections but I wanted to let people know.......

A great Moroccan trip in September 2004!!!

dates august 28 leaving Switzerland to meet up with anyone that would like to join in Malaga or any other ferry port that would better suit a small group.

Route:

Malaga to Melilla by ferry then take the P27 road to Berkane and onto Oujda. From Oujda we will take the P19 that runs though the huge Plateau Rekkam. This will probably be the first nights rough camp, turning off the road West and out into the middle of nothing but rocks and dust. A great opportunity to get a wonderful view of the stars at night with no light pollution. This area may be worth exploring for another day or so. We would also like to call in on a school located between Bouarfa and Figuig, between now and September I hope to collect a quantity of school supplies from various Swiss companies over here to deliver. The problems with schooling in Morocco I have learned is that text books are expensive, families have to pay a lot of money for the children to attend school, often the children are needed to attend to the family goats etc. so sending them to school and paying for the necessary is often forgotten about.

From Figuig the general direction would be to cross the high atlas to the west coast. I would like to agree this route with whoever would like to join us, my general idea, and very open to discussion would be to avoid all major roads and tourist routes and take to tracks and off road (this may include crossing the odd river when possible).

Once the Atlas have been navigated and we have all agreed upon how much time is required to return to the ferry port we can either split up to return home or continue onwards up the west coast and home via Spain.

The idea is that everyone pays for them selves. No one pays any fees to any clubs, we all have a good time, look after and look out for each other. We can split up when we want our own space and meet up later at agreed points. Easy going friendly trip though a wonderful country.

Mail me at christopher.astbury@arvinmeritor.com if you are interested in the trip. I can send you more details of the 3 week trip.

Book it, pack it and ****** off to Morocco with us!!

Astbury,

Just missed our trip. We're a small group (4 vehicles) departing UK (Plymouth) 03 Oct to northern Spain then driving down to Algeciras then ferry to Tangier. Going down as far as the desert before returning. This is our fourth time overland to Morocco in 6 years and we've nearly exhausted the routes without going to the same places twice.

The first 2 times we went we were a single vehicle which restricted some of the fun (dune bashing especially). Last time we went with a large organised group which was fantastic having no concerns about mechanical problems and self recovery.

Hope you get some 'takers' to accompany you and that you enjoy it as much as we have in the past.
