Has anyone got any definitive information on what years where affected by the Oil Pump Bolt coming loose and the sprocket coming off?

I have heard two views 1) It is definitely only early cars i.e. up to late 1990's and 2) cars up to 2004 have known this problem.

Anyone have any figures from Land Rover around affected engine numbers or periods of manufacture.

At present I am contemplating dropping the sump when I change the oil and replacing the bolt. However I could do without such and internal task as a matter of course, love the D2 but just sometimes I have to question is it all worth it? Love the forum too, but maybe best to stop looking at too many posts!

Thanks in anticipation of your knowledge.

From reading about this on the internet it seems to be any year can be affected. My TD5 (Year 2000) bolt was tight and loctited when I checked it. I think LR are pretty cagey on the issue.

I'm glad I did the job as it was always on the back of my mind. It's a pretty routine job so worth doing for peace of mind.

Cheers, Andy
