hi ,i have just done a filter & oil change on my discovery td5 auto gear box,i selected all gears wile somone els filling gearbox,in the manual it says fill untill oil comes back out,does this mean untill no more oil comes out then put the sump plug in, or does it mean as soon as it flows out put the sump plug in.why i say this is becouse i filled up untill oil flowed out,then i put the sump plug in,and it could be to mutch oil in.it seems that now when iam driveing it dont kick down the gears as fast as it use do,hope you can help,thanks.richy

If you are not sure about the level, take the gearbox LEVEL plug out with the engine stopped and allow any excess to drain out. Once it stops running out you can replace the plug.

hi peter,i think you got it mixed up,my gear box is a automatiic.the only plug on it is the drain plug.richy

Hi Richy, there ARE two plugs on your autobox, one at the bottom is the sump plug (for emptying the box) and the other is on the front face which is the fill/level check plug.

When checking the oil level you need to have the engine running and cycle through all gear positions before opening the level plug.
