Hi there, noticed in last couple of weeks that my MPG has dropped from a steady 40MPG (re-mapped ECU-performance just same aas when i was getting hiogh MPG) to an average of 25MPG! Any idea's anyone? I am thinking along the lines of the MAF sensor, will I need to get the beast set back to normal before I am able to test efficiently or does anyone think (know) if I can get a result from just disconnecting.
for info I have also disconnected EGR valve (12 months now) no issues, regular oil/filter and crankcase breather filter changes etc etc
bit confused-any help gratefully accepted.

Now you've found one of the problems with remaps!
To test do you have to reset, or can you do it with the "new" settings?
I suppose you could try cleaning/checking the usual things and see if that sorts it out.
Have you tried contacting the remapper for advice?

Your maf signal could be high or it could have stopped giving any signal at all and ecu is using default values, but don't think mpg would drop so drastically using default values.

I suggest you try for a while with it disconnected and assess the mpg. If it improves then it's the maf at fault.

If you don't see any difference then you will have to connect to some diagnostics that can read live data and check all sensor outputs that affect fueling. Sensor outputs remain unchanged regardless of your remap.

Maffy.................I'm sorry I can't give you any technical advice, but with all the extra VAT etc. that you're giving to Gordon then I reckon you'll be able to single-handedly pay off the UKs national debt and possibly gain a Knighthood into the bargain.

Thanks you all for your replies, especially Talldavey, I like the sound of that "Arise Sir maffy" it has a nice ring to it. I personally would pay through the nose to run Gordon over in my freebie-then reverse!!!
I think then I would be eligable for a dukedom at least!!
Will keep you informed, beast is going for aan oil & filter, new crankshaft beather filter etc etc, see if that improves the job.:)
ps I love my Freebie so much I guess I would be happy if it did 10 to the gallon--EEK!-I'm sure it wont get that bad tho.
