could any one tell me if its true that inside the viscous coupling unit that it holds oil as ive been told that i may need anew prop as the viscous coupling looks like a sealed unit and cant see how it could hold oil to be fair

It's a sealed unit and holds viscous fluid. They seize and cause damage to the rear diff and IRD ( the extra gearbox that turn the drive round 90 degrees).
If they say it's oil, they don't know much about them, so get another opinion.

that might be it then mate but was advised to have prop as wellas ird unit to make sure it hadnt gone

If the IRD has failed, it will be the VC that caused it, so you need a new one.

is that the viscouse coupling with the three bolts in then mate

The 3 bolts hold the damper on, the VC is the large heavy lump the propshaft connect to.

oh thanks for that ive been offered ird unit and prop for £600 including fitting seems like that is a good price dont u think

That will be salvaged parts, a new IRD is a lot more than that.
