hi guys
i have been doing a full service on my '04 td5 es premium auto and whilst doing that i have discovered a diesel leak. i haven't located the source yet and was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers before i have to start taking it to bits to find it. when i am underneath the diesel come down the side of the bell housing and drips off the sump. when the engine is running i get about one drip per 2 seconds which is obviously contributing to my poor fuel comsumption. when the engine is off the drips slow to a stop. from what i can make out it seems to be coming from the bottom / underside of the fuel regulator valve but its very hard to see without some small mirrors. ideas anyone?

Common problem with TD5 regulators. On the rear, drivers side of the head. You need a new one.

is it a new regulator or a new gasket?
is it a simple remove and replace or is it a bit more involved.
thanks for the reply.

It's always been the regulator on the ones I've changed. Fairly simple to do, just hard to get your fingers at the bolts.

thanks for your help. i thought it might be that. if its a common problem what have LR done about it? i.e. modifications etc. before i order a new one whats your thoughts on the many pipes going into the regulator could they be the culprit? its just mine has only 52k on the clock..

I think the regulators themselves crack rather than leak at gasket or pipes . I vaguely remember (as this was the first job I did on mine years ago) the part was modified to make this less likely.

:)Thanks guys
i changed the fuel pressure regulator yesterday and what a pig of a job it was too!! who ever took 1 hr to do the job must of had 4 pairs of tiny hands lol! still thats done now onto the next job (de-egr) hopefully that is more straight forward but will give it some time first for the cuts and bruises to heal..
