Hi all, I've just got into my TD4, turned the key in the ignition and the engine keeps turning over without firing up. I also noticed I'm not getting that buzz you get when the fuel primes. Pump problem ? Fuse problem ?
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

try giving the pump a knock and see if it starts buzzing

O/S/R wheel arch.....in front of the wheel just under the chassis there will be a black plastic moulded box and the pump is inside that.....IIRC its held in place with 2x 10mm headed bolts.

O/S/R ? But I normally hear an initial buzzing from the vicinity of the front of the car, not the rear.

Early models have a pump fixed next to the fuel filter in the engine bay between battery and bulkhead. There is also another pump in the fuel tank, this may have also failed as you should also be able to here it priming when ignition is first switched on.

Also check fuse 10 in engine compartment fuse box and check/reset the inertia switch in case that has tripped.

All sorted now. The single pump O/S/R was dead. New pump and filter put on, back on the road !
Thanks to all who helped. :)
