Vin Help

Any idea when it was born? I think it may be older than the J-plate suggests and may have had some sort of military life. Please help..........

Stll no real answers here guys. I seem to be getting the idea that you can't pin down the year of birth from the VIN. Also, the modification letter at the end, namely a C doesn't seem to get a mention anywhere.
Lastly, Solihull don't seem to have a very good web site do they. I mean talk about being out of touch with all their loyal supporters. It seems like you have to get in touch with some bloke called Eric whose computer is an 8 valve.

PS, haven't checked out Rashid yet. Sounds like a Glaswegian bor Indian with a face full of spots!

You might have more luck if you have the original chassis number.

Spencer, your Series IIa 88" RHD was born somewhere between April 1966 and March 1967 according to the 'C' chassis suffix. This would put it on either a 'D' or 'E' plate. However to get an age related plate for it from the DVLA you will need to get proof from either the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) or from Eric Pagan at Landrover. His details are:
