Hi all. I've just bought myself a '93 disco to have a play at going off road. When I lifted the bonnet I noticed it has 2 batteries: is this normal, I hadn't actually noticed on any others I'd looked at; and it has a 'Land Rover Special Vehicles' plate pop riveted on under there as well; again, do they all have this, 'cos it doesn't look any different from any others I've seen.
Apologies i fthis is all common knowledge, but I'm just a beginner at this.
Thanks,
Sean

Nope, it's a 5 door diesel.

Any other "special" bits? LRSV is usually a commercial or super off road type application. Give me the vin number and I can check.

Hi, the VIN is SALLJGMF7KAO48958. Doesn't look particularly special to me, just looks like the rest of them!!

Cheers,
Sean

two batteries means you probably have a split charge system to supply juice to some ancillary equipment (such as a winch) that has apparently been removed prior to your purchase. Nothing particularly unusual about this but the special vehicles plate suggests that it was fitted at the factory. Do you have any history of previous owners etc as this may give a clue to what the truck has been used for.

Not too sure about the history as I've sent the V5 away to DVLA and didn't pay a lot of attention to it. There doesn't seem to be any sign of it ever having had a winch (no holes, brackets etc in view). But thanks for the help so far.

Vin doesn't reveal anything really, hopefully the reg number is K*** HSS. Maybe it was just a special order with the dual batteries.

Let me know if there is anything else you need to query.

You're right with the reg!! There is one other thing I was wondering last night: I want to knock myself up a set of stainless roof bars and didn't know if there were mounting points anywhere, or if it clips to the gutter??

Thanks for your help guys,

Sean.

I think it would be gutter mount, someone correct me?
