Here are some pics of the Defender, still undergoing expedition preparation, mainly been working on the electrics this past few days so not a great deal to show for what feels like a lot of work!!! (And i took a day off to go laning today :D)

There are some pics of the split charge/management system with my spangley Optima batteries, the cables for power to the rear of the vehicle exiting the conduit by the NEW back door, and the installation of the heated screen in the new door! The auxillary fuze box mounted on the bulkhead with the cables running from the battery compartment, via ducting outside the vehicle!! And the new carpeted back, but the floor carpet is rolled up.
Also some pics of me out there getting muddy today and the aftermarth :)

You will have to excuse the quality, i'm in a hurry, its getting dark and i couldnt be bothered to set up external flash gun etc for a few snap shots. I'll take better pics tomorrow.

Right, the split charge system is a National Luna Battery Management system - costs approx £225inc VAT so not cheap, cheaper can be made (as little as £20ish), but its no way as clever..altho may suit your needs.

The fuse box is a Blue Sea Systems 12 way box with negative bus bar (neg terminals basically) - one input, each output is individually fused and uses standard car style blade fuses, itll carry a LOT of amps, so is good enough to handle all aux systems at once if nessecary (altho your battery wont last 2 mins if you do!). Cos was £32 from a place called Merlin Equipment Ltd, in Poole, Dorset.

Cabling for the Split charge system came with the BMS from national luna, its 25mm sq (i think). I use the same cable for linking the split charger, batteries, and aux distribution fuse box.

For cabling around the vehicle I am using Maplin 50m reels of 30A red and 30A black multi strand cable, terminated with soldered on crimp terminals (cut off plastic cost, and use silicone boot instead after soldering).

The cable is run from front to back inside a conduit which is pond water conduit - its good stuff but the ribbed wall makes it a pain in the backside getting cables in, so i cut, measured and taped them todgether, feeding in 1 more than i know i need, just in case i add somthing as i cant do it again!! This conduit was fed into the vehicle, along the side where the hardtop joins the body...in that void bit.

Smaller conduit is also used to feed from the aux fuse box to the dash board with speaker cables, radio power cables and gps cables inside, i split this one along its length for easier cable feeding but it was just as tricky cos of the re-inforcement wires in the conduit!

Any more questions then just ask...i'm getting used to spending hours wiring and stuff, but making no visible progress!!! :)
