Having wanted a Landy for a while now it looks like my dream's about to come true! Some friends of ours announced that they are selling their SWB Series 2a, and it was too much to resist! I don't take delivery until October (the friends need it for their impending house move and for towing their race car), but I am as excited as an excited thing, and enjoying learning more about these wonderful cars.
Any useful pointers / advice (particularly on friendly mechanics in W Sussex) would be gratefully received.

You cannot believe how excited I am! The friends have moved house, I've paid the money and the Landy becomes mine on Sunday!:D
I am so excited (did I already mention that!:D ). I've sorted out my insurance, and now I need to organise some new tyres. Can anyone advise what I should put on a 1962 SWB lla? If I should be posting the question elsewhere I'd be grateful if you'd let me know.
I also need info on where to take it for an MOT. I'm in West Sussex near Arundel.
I am so excited :D :D :D <sorry>

:yay: You've got every right to be excited, you;re going to get a landy! :yay:
Don't know about the tyres I'm afraid - might be worth posting in the series forum though.
I know a really *excellent* garage in Eastbourne but that may be a bit far I guess ... there are a few folk on here from Worthing and thereabouts, may be a bit nearer for you.
Post some pice when you get the landy! :)

LOL, I wish my dad's girlfriend was like that, she tried to get him to sell his for years, and she gets bitchy if my dad works on his for too long instead of working on the house. ANd she was bitching about the oil spots in front of the house!
Hello Mrs GTD and a very big welcome to the forums :)

Well, it's now mine! I drove it from Hampton Court to Climping in West Sussex, and I feel like I've had a work out! I'm going to have shoulders and a left thigh like a Russian shot-putter :p
It drives like a boat, sounds like a cement mixer and smells like a petrol station, but I love it :D Felt very sad leaving it at the tyre emporium this morning:( as I would have much preferred driving it to work. Oh well, as soon as the bits & pieces are sorted (small matter of an MOT :o ) it will be mine to play with every day!
A big thank you to the chap in the red Defender on the A285 who waved to me yesterday. My first wave, and it just made my day:)
Thanks also for the great welcome. I now need to join the owners club, and would love to know if Landy owners organise 'blats' like the Lotus 7 Club do.
