After our hols this year camping at billing and Cornwall. Me and my wife thought that we would do it again (camping that is) but this time in some thing bigger than her lovely little swb s111. So I thought I could put a 12 seater tub on my 109 after a quick hunt around the island for a tub for an s111 and not being able to find one. I thought about using the tub from the defender that was in the field as we had and could not find a use for it. So it was out with tape to see if it would fit after and hour or so it looked like it was going to fit. so it was out with the spanner to unbolted it from its host then it was time to start on to mine which removing the tub straight forward enough as I was going change the bulkhead anyway. I start by stripping the rear tub off then the front wings and rad panel as it easier than undoing all those nuts and bolts down the wings. Then it was off with the bulkhead. It was made easier with use of the hiab. Dropped the new one into place fairly easy to do, but as the tub is off the paint came out for the chassis which look great all shinny and black :band:

They do look sad when there are no panels on them but it is better now with the new bulkhead. :flushed:

What was wrong with the 110?

I saw a series 2a on ebay with a defender 110 rear tub, windshield, roof, and doors, so the rear tub will definitely fit, or can be made to fit.

This weekend it was back on with the wings and the rad after some food we took the tub off the defender which did not want to come off but when it did it show us how rot the chassis was back end falling apart and the bulkhead out riggers holed baulk head falling apart to any it was back to the tape measure found out there bit to be cut off my chassis cut them off drop the tub on still will not sit right. look underneath the defender tub has a support on it that sit over the rails this had to be remove to make it fit right next is the roof as I want to keep the s111 windscreen the roof will have to be modded this will be do by use the front off a s111 roof cut and riveted on to the leading edge of the defender roof but that next week

Also, is it me or do the back wheels not fit the wheelarches properly? (Picture 4)

weedy

arr i see you have spotted the diff between the 110 and the 109 the wheel arch will be trim off so it look right as it needs moveing as the serpendiosn travel is great enough that they hit the arches any way

some of the stuff is mine the bulldozers but bus was some ones home until last spring it now wiat to be move the other stuff is part of the mumsuem

not alot to show for a full day today as it just been bolting up and wireing the big diff is the roof which i think looks nearly right after cut and shape it to mate the s111 front end there over 2" in hight over the s111 roof so it work nicely ho good new the seat box and floor pan fit straight in they are out of my s111

Is it just me, or does it look like it's sagging a bit in the middle? Also, the checker plate looks silly there, it would look better without it, or at least if you paint it the same color as the body.

weedy
26th Sep 2004, 09:52
the saggy bit only the way the photo was shot i agree the checker plate is silly but that because i have not put the rest on tubel step for the side too which will make it look right

I am moving to the isle of man, or just tiree, dont need TAX or MOT it rocks, (everthing rusts though (really badly) once saw a LWB S3 SW sitting on a glavy chassis, knackered axles but still ran just. i made an offer but didnt go anyfuter. :( )

26th Sep 2004, 16:07
your are right we don`t have any mot we do pay for tax it £5 if they are over 25 years old we also pay less tax on are wages but we pay for it in every thing else all the parts that we buy new that have to be shipped in have a massive shipping charge like i try to buy a little genater fron northern tools the gen is only £59.99 plus vat but they want £34 to ship it here it might be green like the frount end yet
