A mate of ours (policeman) was telling us the other day that most landies that get nicked are broken for parts within 2-3 days, so maybe security marking major parts is a good idea...

Thats another good reason to install a good immobiliser. My glass is engraved with some sort of serial number.. which should be a deterrant.

But the immobiliser was always on my shopping list... better get down to installing it.

If you have a diesel engine (200, 300 or TD5) you are at the biggest risk I would say. Also a 90 is higher risk than a 110.

Marking all the glass helps with ringing, but how many people buying a 'cheap' landie from some bloke down the pub are bothered about that(??).

I knew there was a reason I opted for a TD model! Besides, if anyone nicks it I'll just walk after them...

No Matter what Landy you have the Average Tealeaf knows what he's after and if you have it they will take it, or at least try very hard to get it.

your job is to make that job bl**dy hard!

Fuel Cut off
Brake Cut off
Battery Cut off
Transmission Nuetral,
4wd Nuetral
Rotor Arm Removed?
Steering wheel removed?
Clutch Claw
Alarm
immobiliser
better locks

KEEP ALL VALUABLES OR OTHER ITEMS OF DESIRABLE EQUIP' OUT OF THE WAY!

Most if not all of the above make your vehicle harder for the tealeafs to get...

Very good advice. The rotor arm is a good one, a spare is not usually found in the average tealeaf's kit... :D

Of course there are endless bits you can remove to immobilise the vehicle. When my landy was stolen then found, the police removed the HT lead from the ignition coil to prevent another theft. Then they told me which wires to use to hotwire it and get it going again!

... meant to add also, that must be the best phone call I've ever received:

'Mr Hayden, we have found your stolen Land Rover.' :yay: Ecstatic. :yay:
