Hello, for those who don’t know I am very much involved in a Charity set up by my father and mother, the raven trust. We send allot of medical, clothing, toiletries, and a few car parts out to Malawi in the middle of Africa, now what does this have to do with the going spare section? A friend ours has a 1980 SWB S3, in need of an overhaul, She is currently away to South Africa to give birth to a child, and really need to have this when she returns. It runs at the moment but not very well. I have be given a list of parts that she needs to got it 'going' again. So really after donations, also I will hopefully be going out in summer next year (2005) and 'rebuild' this landy in 4 weeks, I too need to raise funds for going out there. There is not a lot I can offer in return, I will hopefully come back with a detail report with loads of pictures of the rebuild.
So what it needs.
6 track rod ends
2 Swivel housing oil seals
Steering relay
Brake master cly and repair kits (dual)
Brake failure switch (dual)
Full Clutch system; plate, pressure plate, slave cly, master cly.
Complete rear diff
The cog, locking washer & Nut, were the O/D would go and the cover, As I am sending out a box I have but missing the above bits.
Sump Gasket
Headlight switch
4 new springs shackle bushes, Bolts and nuts, u-bolts & nut, really a whole new suspension system.
And a set of exhaust brackets.
If you can help in anyway it will be much appreciated.
Also I will be working on a number of land rovers while I am out there, so I may need some more spares.
Thank you,
Chris Challis

Come on then folks. I'm up for it. How about one of the mods making this a sticky for a while? See if we can get everything together young Chris is going to need.
Maybe you should write an article about the project, Bob might give you some pointers on what the magazines like.
Put me down for the new clutch & a used headlight switch. (might be able to find more by the time you go)
Next!!!!!

Cheers Andy, its much appreciated. will have to arrange collection off you.
Also thanks Lighting90.
The next container that will arive on time goes on the 5th of Jan (my birthday :) ) so its a bit of a rush to get all this stuff together.
The woman who owns this landy teaches the Malawi's how to grow better and more crops, so her landy is a really usefull tool, and has been much loved by her, and her family, so its not you typical African landy state, being filled to the cab with wood, though they are about. my father who returned yestoday told great storys of these landrovers with back axles spliting  under the great weight of the wood they carry. :o
Thanks again for anyhelp.
hmm might have some stuff like the main shaft nut and washer but the post will be a problenm but will try and see what i can i do

Well it's amazing what you find when you have a rummage.
You can put me down for the clutch master and slave cylinder :) They'll be a few years old but are new parts in original greaseproof paper and boxes - master goes up and down fine, haven't tested the slave as I don't have a plunger :p
Pm me your address and I'll send 'em over.
I just wish I knew why I had these in the first place ...

hello everyone.
cheers for the donations the parcel is now ready to go and will go in the container on monday (date changed) Suff we are having to buy new springs, trackrod ends etc... will be going out in the next contaier. and will miss the dates that i am there. but as well as work on this landi ive got my eye on a 109 that has been sitting in a shed for a long while, the locals called it '******ed' as was the phrase of Robert laws the missionry that descoved the place i am going. (livingstonia check it out on a map of malawi and look in the north.) but no landrover is ever too '******d'!
along with the above donations i have given a gearbox and two diffs, cheers to phil for getting the locking nut, washer, cog etc.... much appracatied. a huge thang you from the owner of the landy, will see if i can get a pic of it. (may take a while.
thanks again everbody.

Just recived a email of thanks from liza,
Hello everyone
Greetings from Malawi. I have not been in touch for ages as I happily have
my hands full with my three month old - a little gem. A big
thank you as well for all the other spares and to those who donated them, a
huge gift and much needed. Auke is waiting for the suspension bits before
we repair everything and our Landi will be as good as new. We have even
asked for a quotation to have the body work reriveted! We so far
fitted the master cylinder for the brakes and thank you so so much as we now
finally have brakes for the first time in three years. I have my hands full
with the baby at the mo so all else seems to be rush rush. I will
contact Ekwendeni to find out if the springs have arrived. Thank you so
much again for all your effort and I will be in touch soon again.
Many thanks and kind regards
Lieza

Well, at least the brake master cyl is doing something - the new one hasn't been connected to the rest of my 109's system yet!
