I've been s******ing behind the privacy of my computer screen about others complaints of leaky landrovers...only to find today that, mine does too!!!.
It doesn't leak in normal rain conditions - but the directed spray from a car wash nozzle causes two little rivulets to run down the inside right of the front windscreen, and also a damp area inside around the rear sunroof...
Any ideas on fixing these? Will new seals around the sunroof rectify? What about the windscreen...is that a new refit job or...
help..dun want to rust out my shiney lovely car that currently has no rust.

The problem with water leaks is finding excatly where they are coming from...
Check the rubber edge seal around the windscreen, and see if you can find any cracks etc, and worth doing the same with the sunroof, as it might be the hot sun that you get has started to destroy the rubber seals. In which case it might have to be renew time, though I seem to remember someone selling a product that you rub into the rubber seals to help prevent them from cracking.

I thought Silicon attacked rubber, or am I thinking of Silicon SealantSilcone grease/lube and rubber get on very well indeed........
Think the (chemicals in) silcone sealant can attack steel though...and silicone grease is not good to get on paintwork if a respray is in the offing...as its difficult to get off and the new paint won't stick properly.
You can make a good rubber/tyre dresser by using a very small amount of silicone lube (plumbers merchants) mixed with loads of water....(use your old dresser bottle) ....well as good as some of these products at £5 a time from the local car accessory IMHO............

Darn my disco now has a water leak! Carpet under driver was wet and I thought it was just my wet boots.
Dried it all out and watched it over a few days, still getting wet!
Put it into Dealer and after a couple of days they found it was the windscreen that was leaking.
Anyone elese with this problem?
I used to use a product call "seek'n'seal" which did wonders with water leaks - May be worth trying before going to the expense of changing the rubber.
You just squirt it in where you think the leak may be, and it seems to find and plug the hole!

Found an accessory that will solve all your problems! You might have to take care in multi-storeys!

Looks great but if weather is like that probably don`t need it!
The silicon lubricant can come in a spray can too, I am a scuba diver and we use silicon grease and spray to lubricate and preserve rubber seals its also very good to lubricate plastics.
I don't think the silicon grease will do much if a seal is done in.
What Michelle may need to do, when its dry, it with a bottle of water, pour water around the windescreen or where ever the leak may be to find the culprit area.
In fact its not a bad idea to keep a can of silicon spray handy and now and then keep the rubber moist by spraying some onto a rag and wiping areas with rubber seals.
I had bad leaks around the windscreen of my Rangy.
I don't know of any other makes but Wurth do a good black sealer. I inserted the nozzel under the rubber seal and slid it around all the windscreen rubber it does tend to be a bit messy and excess sealant ensures a good penetration.
As for the sunroof, if water leaks between the glass and rubber seal then there will probably be a need to renew the rubber. Having an eyeball and checking whether there are any cracks in the rubber could determine this and also the rubber should be quite soft and compressable.
Hope this was of some help, maybe I could pop over and have a look for you..... :p

Disco 2 I presume, fixed loads, water running in half way between mirror and pillar.
Look closely at the end of the gutter or just along a little way. There is a sandwich of 3 sheets of metal and sometimes it is not sealed properly and you can see a hole, the water tracks in this hole and between the metal sheets and exits above the windscreen.

There is only one thing worse then a water leak for a mechanic! That air noise! You can only find them while driving. Can be a tough one, at least you can control the water to find it!
