G'day ,
I hope someone can help me!
My TD5 (2000, 70,000 kms), appears to have a partially blocked fuel filler pipe.
If I try to fill up with full flow from the hand nozzle, the tank blows back with similar force, making a huge mess. To avoid this I have to fill at a slow rate, taking over 20 minutes to fill 'er up. Does the tank have a breather ? Any suggestions for a fix?
Regards, Dinga.

yes the tank has a breather is it a 110 or a 90 if tank is under seat remove seat and panel and right next to the filler inlet is the breather disconect it and see if the helps if so replace the pipe. on a rear tank for a 110 the breather should be visible from the wheel arch below the filler again just dissconnect it and see if the helps

Yes, has a breather, you may be able to get to it via the wheel arch as descibed for the 110, as the Disco tank is in the same place at the rear. If not, check around the filler opening, as it maybe intergral with the filler tube.
One other thing, not sure if fitted to the disco or not, they started fitted anti syphon devices, when you look down the filler tube you would see a flap which spins. Could be it is not spinning. Though having said that, most likely to be blocked breather.

Thanks CHris(iom) (?) and Lighting90,
Your suggestions are very logical. All I have to do is find the breather and the source of blockabe. Many thanks for your prompt replys.

Dinga
