View Full Version : Hampshire Specialist for 4x4 Work
Anybody recommend a non LR Main dealer workshop for a once over (and probably some occasional work) in Hampshire - as I am buying a 97 Disco and would like to get it checked over?
Thanks in advance
Keith Gott's of Alton.....
I bought a D2 11 months ago.
I too specifically searched out a non main-dealer specialist.
I have found these guys very good, friendly, and IMHO have the right mix of fun, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Located in Alton.
Handy for me, as I work in London - They're a 5 minute drive from the train station.
They can drop you off and pick you up from the station.
They have loan cars (by pre-arrangement).
They have original and "pattern" parts.
They offer a "check your new car" service (for a reasonable fee).
When I took my freshly MOTd vehicle in, having picked it up from an independent dealer 60 miles earlier, they picked up a steering fault that would have been an MOT failure and fixed it for me there and then.
They were more than happy to have me sit in and watch them carry out the inspection, explaining common problem areas as they went.
Very pleased so far.

Many thanks - just the sort of response I needed (and why I am such a fan of forums), it is always best I find to use a rcommended place.
Thanks for the advice - will give them a call today.
Thanks for the feedback - Oh, and welcome to the brethren :D
I quite enjoy touring Mr. Gott's parking-lot whilst i'm up there - They've got a load of G4 Discos at the mo., along with a few other interesting bits of machinery - inc. a fwd. ctrl. last time I was there.
They were also overhauling a Lara-Croft style 110 "truck-cab".
So what's your 97 Disco spec. then, and are you buying private or from a dealer?
Well - yet to collect it!
Currently have a 1990 RR Vogue SE which will be on the For Sale forum very shortly!
Have had a series 3 in the past but this is a venture into something newer.
Vehicle is 1997, Series 1 Disco, ES Tdi, with a few minor mods.

Brroklyn 4x4 are friendly people :) Can't find a website for them but the number is 023 80740303 hth
Scumhampton indeed! You originally from Pompey, mush? ;) Just for that slight I feel the need to nick points from you :p :p
Thanks guys - useful to have 2 places within 1/2 an hour.
Have now collected the Disco and am very happy - 2 1/2 drive home was faultless - but will still probably take it to a specialist for a once over for the sake of an hours labour costs.
Hi Newbloke
I'm from edingurgh, i just work in that area now and then :p
And keep off my points, i like to donate them to the needy. ;)
