Hi All,
And Happy New Year.
I need help please. I am setting up a rebuilding project with a friend in India (Kerala / Tamil Nadu) based upon my contacts in the pre-fabricated house industry here in UK and in Europe.
I don't need money donations, I need help with how to get the funding from NGO's and Gov't agencies. I have contacted just about every NGO and departnent but it seems it's not what you know, but who (as usual).

Does anyone here have experience in such matters that can help me please. I have got together the expertise both here, Germany, Scandinavia and in India but we're nothing without backing. My skills lay in bringing parties together, partnering contracts and resources etc but not in ring-fencing or raising funding.

Please contact me off list at cliffw@consultfrom.freeserve.co.uk if you can help or know of someone who can. I am desperate not to loose the momentum already gained and the project is simple enough and can be done in theatre rather than in the UK.

Outline is: manufacture lightweight steel frame SIPs panel (pre-fab) houses using local resources, facilities and labour with engineering / production expertise from here until self-sufficient. It can be done and will work, we have support in India and growing interest elsewhere but I am just Joe Public who needs help.

Thanks for reading
Cliff (aka Woodparts) :)

Cliff,

Great initiative. Well done.

Rather than approaching the organisations and agencies with your offer, what about searching UN, Foreign Government and Aid agency web sites and maybe they are requesting expertise in the field you are offering that you can respond to. They can't ignore someone responding to one of their requests.

Good luck.

Thanks AJ. I've been plaguing the NGO's and Gov't depts with emails and calls. I'm still waiting for replies, they have been inundated with offers of help. We are trying to tacklr this from both ends. Jackie (my friend in India) is running ragged trying to negotiate the Indian (British style) beaurocracy.

One of the main things we need is as many people hitting as many sources as possible.

It seemed like a good idea at the time - and still does!

Cheers
Cliff

I worked with the UN in Cambodia (UNTAC) and the beaurocracy within that organisation and spin off outfits was ridiculous. Offers of simple, basic ideas and routines are 'pooh poohed' by others ****ed with their own importance, decisions take a lifetime to be made and paperwork has to be created if someone goes for a dump! I just found that in a multi-national environment, one nationality's routine does not work with another nationality's. A lot of time and effort is wasted on trying to find common ground and which could be better used on the job/situation in hand.

Hope you get somewhere. It'll be a shame if your enthusiasm and ideas go to waste.
