I paid £502 for a main dealer 24,000 service    .
Is this a reasonable sum - or is someone taking the rice? :o
Of this cost, £120 was for engine and ATF oil !!!!
I dread to think what the 36,000 mile service will be - or is this not as involved? Are there any big routine service costs ahead?
I intend taking it to an independent LR specialist once the warranty has run out so the 36,000 may be the last at a main dealer. I was recommended a service place in Atherton (nr Manchester/Wigan)....does anyone know more??
(BTW this doesn't get anwhere near the £890 I was charged by a Merc main dealer to get a petrol V8 Merc serviced - they charged £290 to change the plugs....apparently there were two per cylinder and it involved taking off the inlet and exhaust manifolds :( :( )

I was looking at the service price board when I was in this week.
Prices seem to go £450ish for 12000, £500ish for 24,000, £450ish for 36,000 £500ish for 48,000 etc :( :(

Authorised LR dealers should have the price up on a board behind service desk. If it ain't there then ask them why not. But NOT until you have visited the local competition, or get one of us to check a local dealer, and get the correct (LR) price.
And THEN go back and hassle HARD if they have chrged you over the odds. Let them know about the "Dealer Recommendation" section on the LR Forum!! :)
I agree labour is expensive but some garages do think we still button up the back!!!

I sympathise. SWMBO tells me I paid about the same for a 30k service on the 90. (TDI5). But one thing is for certain, once I go out of warranty then I'll be shopping about. There's a garage in Morningside, not an LR dealer, but does LR servicing, quotes a HECK of a lot less for the same service interval.
So it's well worth considering looking at other garages if you are out of warranty.
Y not phone the Dundee or Perth dealers and see what they offer?

 .. I take mine to a local 4x4 specialist and thats all they service and they charge £110 for a 6k service ... £200 for a 12k service ... £370 for a 24k service .. £430 for a 48k service. but bearing in mind mine is not under warranty as its on a 96 plate, it pays to shop around.

Interesting point Mark, I thought it was a case of LR servicing only. Need to go read the small print - shall report back in due course.

Maybe depends where you live.
Seems prices set by how much dealers think they can get away with.
I paid £182 for 12000 ml service last October. ( TD ES Auto) from my local Land Rover Dealership.

Found this on the Office of Fair Trading website.
Seems like we can have it serviced where we like as long as it's to the same standard as the dealers.

NWDISCO,
I take mine to my local garage, I bought my DISCO from them, in Glossop.
I get great service, they are very friendly and the prices are ok.
