View Full Version : Zone Alarm...don't Do It

after unsuccesfully trying to download the new version of norton and get it to
run ( which i had on two previous occasions) where it wouldn't run and no
support was available,,,,i went to zone alarm.........DON'T MAK THE SAME MISTAKE,,,,,,,,NEVER EVER NEVER GO TO ZONE ALARM......IT'S TOO TOO
SLOW.....trying to load e-mail takes ages ( and i'm on 1meg),,,,,,will look for
advice as to what to use close to expiry of zone alarm

go for avg antivirus its free and finds a lot of things that mcafee and norton miss. doesn't slow the machine down anywhere near as much either.

I use Zone Alarm firewall & general security and find it fine. It is to all intents and purposes invisible, aprt from the first time you use it when it checks everything that needs to access the internet from your PC. Once you have done this, the settings are saved.

I use AVG for anti virus and am impressed with that too.

Zone Alarm is quite effective as a firewall when setup correctly, however it's very hungry on resources (ala norton fame).

Your much better off with an external firewall/router if possible, if not then kerio personal firewall isn't too bad.
