Play on steering wheel

Hi All,

I need some help with the following, If I hold the steering wheel with my hands apart I am able to move it up and down by about 2~3 millimeters. If I try to move the steering wheel from side to side, it does not move !

I have taken the Freebie to the local LR dealer and they say that this is normal !!

Can any one confirm or deny this for me, as I am pretty sure that it is not normal !

Does the freelander have a height adjustable steering wheel like the rover cars?

If so, then the slight play up and down would mean you need to check the lever, to ensure it is tight or you will get some slight play.

If it is not height adjustable, might be worth removing the cowl cover and looking to see where the movement is.

Yeah, it does have the height adjustable steering column, But it is very tight so I dont think it could be that !!

I will be removing the cowl this eve !
