Subject: Parkamoor

Hello all;

tHE U5051 Parkamoor WILL BE OPEN FOR FEBRUARY 2005

Given the dry end to January 2005, the route is relatively dry. There
are some water-filled potholes towards Nibthwaite but the
level terrace near High Parkamoor is dry. The route to and from High
Nibthwaite is still blocked by two large trees at grid refs. SD
3008 9096 and SD 3020 9118 (either side of the steep section by Selside
Beck). Motorcyclists, mountain bikers and walkers are able
to pass but 4x4s and horse-riders will not get through. It is the duty
of the landowner, in this case the National Trust, to clear
these and I have made them aware of the situation.

Current Forest Enterprise advice is on their website
(http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-68HCZ7 (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-68HCZ7)). For Grizedale they
say:
* Centre (shop and cafe) open - worth checking at Centre where safe to
walk.

* All forest walks and cycle routes now open except Bogle Crag short
trail.

* The majority of public rights of way are also open.

* Go-Ape shut.

* Playground shut but due to re-open by February half-term.
If you have a business reason for accessing the forest or need trees
removing to gain you access please contact your local Forestry
Commission office <http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-5f9b44 (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-5f9b44)> so
we can add you to our list of contacts and priorities.
Please pass this message on to anyone else you know and forward on any
e-mail addresses to me so I can add them to this circulation
list. I will get the NPA's communication team to update the website
today.
