The other day I saw a red 110 CSW. Nothing stange about that, but it was fitted with a full internal military roll cage, and it was leaving the navy housing estate I live in. It had no other markings on it, and had a couple of spot lights on the front. What would that be used for and why would it need a full cage?

Did it have a military reg no.??
If not maybe it was just a Landy enthusiast who was in the Navy or someone visiting a mate in the Navy??
Maybe the military cage being fitted is just coincidental?? Maybe got on the cheap thru contacts if the owner (or his mate) is in the Navy, maybe 'fell off the back' of an Army wagon one day!!

Don't think it had military plates, but not sure. I thought at first it was and enthusiast, but where I was stopped at the junction, he drove right passed me and I waved. He didn't even look.

A friend of mine had a red military 110.
It was a standard military model but painted red on the outside with windows in the hardtop but no rollcage.
It was ex SAS and was used when they wanted to travel inconspicuously although it was obvious to anyone who knew what to look for it was a military model, glass sidelights, jerry can lockers, bumperettes, green interior, convoy lightswitch etc.
I dont know what its military reg was but most SAS vehicles have civilian plates.
The army also use non green Land Rovers for adventure training, skiing in Norway and that sort of thing, again they are repainted military models but I'm not sure if they carry military or civilian plates

The RAF used to use Civvy coloured vehicles in Ulster
