Has anyone stayed at Park Cliffe (http://www.parkcliffe.co.uk)camp site in Windermere. Beth and I are thinking of going in the summer for a week of two. We wanted a site very close to the lake (nice views etc.) and this one has been recommended to me. Does anyone know much about this site or any others you can recommend around Windermere or Coniston?
Thanks in advance
Lewis

Will review Park-Cliffe for you at the end of the month as we're taking the 'BWSOW' (http://community.webshots.com/photo/99402888/99402888AWuSTN) there for the Easter weekend.
We usually stop at Castlerigg Hall (http://www.castlerigg.co.uk/) above Keswick - stunning views over Derwent Water.
It was sadly full though,will still be visiting;
Keswick for;
'The Cars Of The Stars' (http://www.carsofthestars.com) museum George Fishers (http://www.georgefisheronline.co.uk/home_3.shtml)
Grasmere for; Sara Nelsons (http://www.grasmeregingerbread.co.uk/indextop.htm)
Coniston to pay my respects at Donald Campbells grave.
Heading up the A65 from Yorkshire one way & back over the wonderful A6 over Shap fell the other way (the pre-M6 route between Penrith & Kendal)

Right then.
We got back from Park-Cliffe (http://www.parkcliffe.co.uk/) this afternoon after 4 nights there.
A very well kept site, with hardstandings (due to being quite boggy on most of the caravanning area grass)
It must be approached with a caravan from the south (Newby Bridge) as the turn is impossible with a caravan from the north.
NOTE!! that is not an invitation to attempt it!! You may get around with a medium sized trailer (up to 7' x5'), but there are innumerable towbar scrapes in the road on the northern side.
They are quite adamant that all departing caravans are off-site by 12:00 & on-comers don't arrive until 14:00, as the thought of 2 opposing vans meeting on the approach road aren't worth thinking about
The views are quite good from most pitches, but for the best panorama hike up Moor How, the hill behind.
Facilities include;
Shop
Restaraunt
Games room; Snooker(?), machines
Showers
Bath (for lounging in - bookable in advance)
Laundarette
We were impressed enough to consider leaving the BWSOW there, on the last remaining seasonal pitch, even after we found out the price; £2,500 (March - October!!!!!)
But decided against it as being too far for a quick Friday afternoon journey
Park-Cliffe features in 2 albums on page 4 of my 'WebShots' (http://community.webshots.com/user/bushtuckerman50100/0)
They also feature a visit to the Donald Campbell memorials in Coniston
